About Public Health Equity Initiatives (PHEI)

The Public Health Equity Initiative (PHEI) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organisation founded in Nigeria to bridge the gap between public health and everyday environments, particularly in workplaces and underserved communities. PHEI was created to drive public health interventions at the grassroots level by promoting health equity, building capacity, and embedding public health practices in non-traditional settings such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), informal workplaces, and community systems.

By combining education, advocacy, data, and strategic collaborations, PHEI empowers individuals and institutions to reduce preventable health risks, improve mental well-being, and enhance social and economic development through health. We align all programs and actions with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 5, 8, and 10.

Our mission

To improve health and well-being by embedding public health practices into businesses, workplaces, and underserved communities, empowering individuals, institutions, and policymakers to foster health equity through education, advocacy, community action, research, and evidence-based strategies.

our vision

A society where public health is not confined to hospitals and clinics but deeply rooted in everyday spaces, especially informal workplaces and vulnerable communities, where health equity, sustainability, and resilience thrive.

Our Core Offerings

At Public Health Equity Initiatives (PHEI), we provide comprehensive workplace health solutions to enhance employee well-being and productivity. Our core offerings include:

Our tailored workshops focus on practical ways to stay healthy, no matter what work you do or where you do it. We cover key topics like nutrition, disease prevention, mental health awareness, and safe work practices. Whether you’re an artisan, market trader, mechanic, tailor, or work in any informal setting, we equip you with the knowledge and tools to stay strong, reduce stress, and prevent work-related health issues.

We provide practical advice and hands-on support to help businesses and workgroups stay healthy and safe. Whether it’s setting up simple health and safety practices, creating easy wellness routines, or giving guidance on keeping your team strong and stress-free, our consultancy is designed to fit your work environment no matter the trade or workplace.

We conduct periodic health check-ups and risk assessments to help organisations identify potential health issues before they escalate. Our preventive health strategies include screenings for chronic diseases, mental health evaluations, and ergonomic assessments to improve workplace conditions.

We provide short, simple online videos, courses, and guides that show workers how to stay healthy on the job. From easy safety tips to quick wellness routines, these resources help artisans, tailors, market traders, and mechanics learn at their own pace and put health and safety into practice every day.

We collaborate with policymakers to develop and implement workplace health and safety regulations that benefit employees and businesses alike. By advocating for health-conscious workplace policies, we aim to drive systemic change and ensure that health equity remains a priority in corporate decision-making.
