About Public Health Equity Initiatives (PHEI)

The Public Health Equity Initiative (PHEI) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organisation founded in Nigeria to bridge the gap between public health and everyday environments—particularly in workplaces and underserved communities. PHEI was created to drive public health interventions at the grassroots level by promoting health equity, building capacity, and embedding public health practices in non-traditional settings such as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), informal workplaces, and community systems.

By combining education, advocacy, data, and strategic collaborations, PHEI empowers individuals and institutions to reduce preventable health risks, improve mental well-being, and enhance social and economic development through health. We align all programs and actions with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 5, 8, and 10.

Our mission

To improve health and well-being by embedding public health practices into businesses, workplaces, and underserved communities—empowering individuals, institutions, and policymakers to foster health equity through education, advocacy, community action, research, and evidence-based strategies.

our vision

A society where public health is not confined to hospitals and clinics but deeply rooted in everyday spaces—especially workplaces and vulnerable communities—where health equity, sustainability, and resilience thrive.

Our Core Offerings

At Public Health Equity Initiatives (PHEI), we provide comprehensive workplace health solutions to enhance employee well-being and productivity. Our core offerings include:

Our tailored workshops focus on key aspects of workplace health, including nutrition, disease prevention, mental health awareness, and workplace ergonomics. We provide businesses with the tools and knowledge to help employees maintain a healthy lifestyle, reduce stress, and prevent work-related health issues.

We assist businesses in developing workplace health policies that align with their operational goals. Our consultancy services cover everything from creating occupational health guidelines to designing comprehensive wellness programs that enhance employee productivity and engagement.

We conduct periodic health check-ups and risk assessments to help organizations identify potential health issues before they escalate. Our preventive health strategies include screenings for chronic diseases, mental health evaluations, and ergonomic assessments to improve workplace conditions.

To make workplace health education more accessible, we provide online courses, toolkits, and awareness campaigns. These resources are designed to educate employees on critical health topics, offer self-paced learning opportunities, and support businesses in fostering a culture of wellness through digital engagement.

We collaborate with policymakers to develop and implement workplace health and safety regulations that benefit employees and businesses alike. By advocating for health-conscious workplace policies, we aim to drive systemic change and ensure that health equity remains a priority in corporate decision-making.

PHEI is more than an organisation—it’s a movement towards a healthier and more equitable corporate sector. Join us in reshaping workplace health across Africa.
